Dr. Robin R. Davis, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, is a distinguished academic and economic development leader with more than three decades of experience in higher education. She has held key leadership roles at Virginia Union University, including Executive Dean of the Sydney Lewis School of Business, Associate Vice President of Entrepreneurship, Associate Provost of Academic Affairs, and tenured Professor of Management.
Her career also includes faculty and administrative positions at Claflin University and Webster University, as well as public service under three South Carolina Governors through the Department of Commerce and the Rural Crossroads Institute.
Dr. Davis earned degrees from South Carolina State University, Alabama A&M University, and Capella University, and holds advanced certifications from the University of Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Clemson University, and Furman University. A certified Six Sigma Black Belt, she served as President of Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI) and received their Honorary Lifetime Certified Master Consultant Award.
Her global impact includes serving as an Emissary to Australia, Canada, Dubai, and India. Recognized widely for her contributions to education and economic development, Dr. Davis has designed and taught innovative programs in entrepreneurship, strategic planning, and nonprofit management.
She resides in Virginia with her husband, Leon, and is the proud mother of two adult children, Brittany and Reginald, and grandmother to Luke.
Dr. Robin Renee Davis is a native of Columbia, South Carolina and currently reside in Midlothian, Virginia. She graduated from A.C. Flora High School and was a four lettered student athlete in Basketball, Field Hockey, Volleyball and Track and Field. She was voted the most talented female by her graduating class. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Alabama A&M University and a PhD in Organizational Management from Capella University. She is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute (EDI) at the University of Oklahoma, Georgia Institute of Technology (Economic Development Course) and South Carolina Economic Developer's School (SCEDS).
She is also a graduate of Leadership South Carolina through Clemson University. Dr. Davis is also a certified “Black Belt” (Six Sigma). She was the President of Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI www.brei.org) an international economic development organization that focuses on providing resources, tools, training, best practices and networking opportunities for those involved in business retention and expansion activities around the world.
Dr. Davis received an Honorary Lifetime Certified Master Consultant Award by BREI. She was selected as an Emissary to Australia and traveled to Sydney, Brisbane, Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth to speak about community and economic development initiatives and opportunities. Dr. Robin R. Davis served three governors in the State of South Carolina (Governors: David Beasley, Jim Hodges and former Governor and Congressman Mark Sanford) while conducting Community and Economic Development work at the South Carolina Development of Commerce. Dr. Davis served three university Presidents at the following institutions (Claflin University, Webster University, and Virginia Union University). Dr. Davis believes that excellence in leading in the administration area and teaching students is her calling in life.
Dr. Davis is a Professor of Management at Virginia Union University and served as the Executive Dean and Associate Vice President of Entrepreneurship and prior Associate Provost of Academic Affairs and Professor of Management of the Sydney Lewis School of Business at Virginia Union University. She brings more than 30 years of experience in the field of economic development and higher education.
